DULUX COLOUR OF THE YEAR 2021

Early September is always one of my favourite times of year. There’s a slight nip in the early morning air, the leaves begin to turn, and Dulux announces its colour of the year.

For 2021 it has named the versatile neutral Brave Ground as the colour of the year. As always those clever trend forecasters seem to have got it spot on. An earthy beige tone, Brave Ground is nurturing and restorative - a perfect foil in these uncertain times. More than ever our homes have become our sanctuary and using this warming hue will be like getting a big virtual hug.

I’m sure there will be plenty of haters who think beige is boring but personally I think it’s a beautifully reassuring colour which evokes feelings of calm and stability. Just what we all need right now.

Plus, it fits really well with the neutral tones I love to use in my art - I can’t wait to get my hands on a tin and create some brave new work.
