ARTIST SUPPORT PLEDGE UPDATE

13 May

Hello there you!

I hope you’re surviving ok in what is now week 9 (I think) of lockdown here in the UK. I have actually surprised myself at how productive I’ve been over the last few weeks - it’s amazing how suddenly having no income can focus the mind!!

I have mostly been painting but on the days when I’ve not been feeling terribly creative I’ve either been updating the website and other social media, reading, meditating, learning Hindi or sorting my patio area out (the gravel is arriving this week, I’m beyond excited although a little apprehensive about carrying fifty 25kg bags of stone chippings from the road to the back garden - I’m not as young (or as fit) as I used to be!). And I have listened to A LOT of 90s music!

As I mentioned in my previous post, the Artist Support Pledge is an initiative that was set up by artist Matthew Burrows to help artists generate some income during this funny ol’ time and I think I can safely say it’s been a resounding success. Over £20million has been generated by and for artists around the globe because of it.

In case you didn’t see my last post, the only rules for including a piece of work in the ASP is that it must be priced at no more than £200. Anyone can buy the work (not just other artists) and every time an artist reaches £1000 of sales he/she pledges to buy another artist’s work for £200.

I thought I would be fortunate to sell even one piece but I’ve exceeded my expectations and thanks to the generosity (and obviously great taste!) of some wonderful people I am now only £40 short of the £1000 target! I would really love to get there and be able to contribute to the pledge myself so I’m writing this post to share the few remaining pieces available.
