LATEST COMMISSION

I was recently commissioned to create a bespoke piece of art with a very tight deadline - just FOUR DAYS!

Styled Spaces, a home staging company based in Bournemouth, got in touch and asked me to make a 50x70cm canvas based on one that I had posted on Instagram. The original piece was too big for the space so I offered to recreate it to their exact specification.

Luckily I was able to get a canvas in the right size and began working on it right away.

I use a mixture of acrylic and emulsion which, when time is of the essence, is a huge benefit. They both dry pretty fast and so I’m able to build up the required layers relatively quickly. The technique I used for this one was to get the thicker base layers down in some darker grey shades and then add lighter top layers with a dry brush.

The whole thing came together really well and after the initial review with Linda at Styled Spaces it was decided that some colour was needed to give it a bit of a lift and to further tie in with her design concept. She asked me to add some hot pink in the bottom right corner and this is the result:

I’m really pleased with how it turned out given the timescale I had to complete it and I can’t wait to see it in situ at the property being staged.
