LATEST PROJECT
Well, it’s been a while since I wrote anything here but seeing as it’s the ‘news’ section I thought it was about time to update you on what I’ve been doing these last few months.
The Home Staging Association Forum back in November (for which I was asked to provide some art for the goodie bags - see previous post) was a huge success and I received a big order off the back of it. If you follow me on Instagram you’ll have seen some of the work I’ve been producing for that, more of which to come in another post.
First, I thought I’d share a bit about a big design project I am working on alongside the artwork. Also in November I was approached by a developer (it was a good month!) who asked me to design and furnish a three bedroom flat in Marylebone. Of course, I jumped at the opportunity to take on my biggest interiors project to date and went to visit the property, a 16th floor flat in a rather prestigious block right on the corner of Edgware Road, W2.
Building work was well under way as you can see from the pics so we set about discussing the interior scheme.
Dining area
Living area
My client wanted a scheme that would appeal to overseas buyers, particularly those from the middle east as this is an area of London that is very popular with them. The flat has amazing views and is south facing so light is not a problem; this meant I could afford to go a little darker with my proposed scheme than I normally would. I wanted to create an intimate area for dining and use lots of black and gold furniture and accessories. It is quite an unusual layout with the kitchen area being on a different level to the living area but ultimately it is all open plan.
The kitchen units and bathrooms were already installed before I came on board and use lots of grey and white marble so this was a good starting point for my designs. Below are the design concepts for the living area and master bedroom. I wanted to keep a cohesive look throughout so, along with grey, white and black I have opted for some lovely dark plum shades. Gold and silver accessories will really pop against these.
The building work is now almost finished and the painting has been done. We are waiting for new windows to be installed and once that is done the fun really begins! I can’t wait to get hands-on with the styling and see how it all comes together…
What do you think of the scheme? Would you be brave enough to add colour?
