PEACH FUZZ: A COLOUR TO UNITE THE WORLD?

The Pantone Color Institute have announced Peach Fuzz (13-1023) as the Colour of the Year for 2024.

A delightfully soft and gentle pastel shade of orange Peach Fuzz is a colour which, in times of war and separation, reminds us what is important in life: kindness, connection and community. Peach is a delicate, feminine hue that encourages us to nurture ourselves and each other. In spiritual terms it is representative of friendship, selflessness and harmony.

Pantone’s Executive Director, Leatrice Eiseman explains the reasons for choosing this particular shade:

“Peach Fuzz brings belonging, inspires recalibration, and an opportunity for nurturing. Drawing comfort from PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz, we can find peace from within, impacting our wellbeing.”

In order to heal the world we must first heal ourselves and pale shades of orange like this, along with pink, are excellent colours to work with to develop compassion; they bring a warmth that can melt even the coldest heart, are hugely calming and can invoke feelings of ease. At the same time they inspire fun, lively conversation, the sort of discussions that are best carried out around a camp fire.

Orange relates to the Sacral Chakra, the energy centre just below the navel which governs our emotions and relationships of all kinds. Peach brings elements of playfulness, nostalgia and a childlike innocence. Think of how young children engage with each other - there is no judgement, scrutiny or hatred just pure, unadulterated love.

Peach Fuzz is a considered choice and one that quietly makes a very powerful statement: it is time to lay down the weapons, accept our differences and live together in peace.

The future’s bright. The future’s Peach.
